I want to invite you to join me. I am house hunting at the moment, and decided that I would go on a tour of my ideal home. So come on with me and take the tour...
When you pull up to thhe curb of my house you are greeted by a darling wooden fence with a garden arbor over the front gate. The fence is bordered on the street side with an array of lavendar, bachelor buttons, and cornflowers all in vivid shades of purples and blues mixing harmoniously. The arbour is covered with amazingly full vines of purple and blue morning glories and moonflowers.
Opening the front gate, a walkway takes you through the plush carpet of green grass, to the front porch. As you stand at the porch, you hear the soft tinkle of wind chimes creating a beautiful melody with the rustling of the leaves in the trees around the house and the birds singing their song. The porch is flanked by delightful lilac bushes and the flower beds around it are full of irises, impatiens, sweet allysum, and petunias. A small table and chairs are on the porch, inviting family and friends to sit and enjoy the lovely yard and companionship.
Upon opening the front door, one steps into another time. A delightful bright and cheerful foyer invites all who enter to come in and be part of our family. Walk through the foyer and you enter the main living area. A large livingroom with big windows letting in plenty of natural light is there for everyone to enjoy. The very victorian feel of the room is everywhere. One feels they have been transported back to the late 19th century. Velvet and lace adorn the windows, there are outstanding details in the baseboards and crown molding, and the hardwood floors shine as sunbeams dance across the surface.
Going from the living room to the dining area there are wonderful built-in's that show off the wonderful collection of delicate dishes and glassware to the finest. The victorian feel of the living room continues into here. It is a room from an era gone by but still warm and inviting for friends and family to share a meal with us.
From the dining area one is transported back to the 21st century upon entering the kitchen. There a large expance of eastern facing windows add even more light to a wonderful kitchen that is bright white with spots of sunshine yellow to create a room that is uplifting to be in. The kitchen has a wonderful stove and oven that are very modern and easy to take care of. There is a dishwasher, a nice big double sink, and wonderful cabinets through out the room. This is truly a wonderful kitchen desgned for ease of use for the family from the smooth finishes of the cabinets to the easy to wipe down tile that is everywhere in the room.
If you peek into any of the bedrooms, they have plush sink your bare feet into it carpets. There are also absolutely delightful closets that have plenty of room in them for each persons clothing and other belongings. The bedrooms, each and every one of them, are designed to be a special place for the person who occupies the room. A retreat for Mom, a place to talk and giggle for my girls, and room to play and express himself for my son.
The laundry room sits at the back of the house, a room that is made not just for helping us have clean clothes, but also that gives us storage for our crafts, hobbies, and outdoor play things. The room is lined with cupboards and shelves that make it a fantastic place for organizing and storing our stuff. This laundry room is the place for things that otherwise would clutter our lives without this place for them.
There is a linen closet near the main bathroom. It holds all the family's sheets, blankets, towles and such. Opening the linen closet door one is met with a kaleidoscope of textures and colours all neatly arrainged on the shelves. It is a perfect part of our home and helps us stay organized.
From there, you go to the bathroom. Here there is a luxuriously huge tub that a body can just sink into and relax all the tensions of the outside world away in OR that from the imagination of a small child becomes a lake where friends come to swim, float boats, and have water fun. The bathroom has built ins that hide the family's toiletries and allows for a room with nice clear spaces with just a few adornments to add some of the family's personality to the space.
Then there is the basement. A nice cheery space that is designed for us to be able to store those things like holiday decorations and out of season clothes. It is a nice room that lets us tuck away those things that need to be tucked away most of the year.
If you go out the side door of the house, you are at the garage. It isn't anything magnificent. But it is roomy, we have space for our cars, space for lawn care stuff, and space for the kids outdoor toys like bikes, 4-wheelers, and go-carts.
Thank you for coming on this tour of my home... I hope you have enjoyed it. And now I am off to see if I can't find this perfect home for my family...
